SoundMate for SoundCloud App Reviews

Good App

It is a really convenient app for users of SoundMate. I really love it.

2.0 makes SoundMate usable!

app maker has created a nice way of allowing the user to navigate away (following a download link for example), and come right back to soundcloud with one click. Also, finally, you can download files. UI much better, notification center and media buttons are a nice touch. The only thing I would advise is to keep working on the UI and try to make the page scrolling performance a little smoother if possible. Regardless, this app is finally in a state where I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who uses SoundCloud on a daily basis and doesn’t like it being lost in their sea of browser tabs.

I wish the new logo didn’t look like it was flipping me off...

I mean, I really love soundmate. It’s indispensible for listening to SoundCloud natively. I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, the latest update added an icon/logo that looks like it’s flipping me off. My guess is that the creators aren’t from the US and are probably unaware of the cultural meaning what the logo looks like. But to me, it’s weird. Not enough to lose any points for, but still something they should probably update.

Best app on the store to listen to sound cloud!

I only have two things that I wish the app had. 1. I wish there was a smaller media played for soundcloud instead of the whole webpage. Somewhere between the tab at the top and the website would be perfect. Especially if it featured all the same features as the site. 2. When I use this app on my macbook pro, it makes it quite hot and drains my battery quite fast. Even in the battery tab it says that it is using significant energy. My second wish is that this gets reduced, so that way it’s not a burden to use. Other than that, the app is incredible. I love the tab and notication center implementation in the app. As well as the global shortcuts and media bindings when on the app itself. To me it is worth the $5 for the simplicity, but then again I primarily use soundcloud to listen to music. Can’t wait for more updates!

Keyboard controls work (after 3rd party fix) and that makes me happy

I listen to SoundCloud for close to 12 hours a day, almost always from my laptop or iMac. Skipping (which is a common interaction for me) has always been a pain as I have to navigate to the browser window, hit Shift + Right Arrow, then navigate back to where I was. Its not HORRIBLE, but I’d rather keep my attention on my work. I bought this app almost purely for the ability to use my keyboard shortcuts for play/pause and skip. While there is the known issue of the play/pause button opening iTunes, there is also a fix that is readily available with some searching. Upon first opening the app, I had some issues with flash player appearing to be missing, but after a restart it seemed to be fixed. Between that and the iTunes opening issue, I’ve taken away one star from an otherwise well executed app.

MUST-HAVE for any Soundcloud User

If you listen to soundcloud on a regular basis and want to be able to skip tracks using keyboard shortcuts while your using another app…. then this app is for you! New version fixes a bug with the soundcloud update. Works perfectly.

Finally!

They fixed the keys issue! Buy this NOW!! It works with the Skip Fwd/Back & Play/Pause keys on your keyboard!! Perfect solution especially if you don’t need your browser open all the time just to play music. 2 thumbs up!!

BEST SOUND CLOUD APP

UPDATE: Great app and way to listen to soundcloud on the mac. I had a list of issues and the developer corrected all of them. Thank you very much. The developer(s) then followed up to add the feature I wanted with the abitlity to hide to dock icon. Thanks Again.

really like this known, unknown music collab app!!!

Just a web page

This is app does nothing but load Soundcloud’s web UI. I am looking for a UI similar to Spotify for listening to, organizing and searching for Soundcloud tracks. This app is not what I was looking for.

I NEED A LIKE SHORTCUT

I love this app, and it makes my life alot more easy. There is one huge problem that requires me to open this app up all of the time almost defeating the purpose of it. I have a shortcut for everything except if i want to like a song. I have to open the browser and find the song that is playing because the scroll doesnt follow the song that is playing. I NEED A SHORTCUT TO LIKE A SONG, and i doubt it is that hard to do / I am definetly not the only one with this annoyance. This app is great just need to make this shortcut and this will be GOLDEN!

good app, but some songs won’t play.

The only reason i bought this application was for its implementation of global hotkeys. for example, if i want to skip to the next song while in another application, i can press fn+f9 to skip. and that works great. but often times a song will not be able to play because it says i need to download flash, which i have done. through a browser, i can play these songs but just not on the app. what’s the point of having global hotkeys if the song won’t even play?

exactly what i needed

get soundcloud out of my browser tabs and let me use my media keyboard shortcuts. perfect.

Not Bad - A Little Pricey

This app is a pretty nice app. Like many of the other reviewers, I listen to SoundCloud for hours on end, and the media button integration was my reason for purchasing. It does work, although not via the app. In order to use the buttons, I had to install a seprate script via Termainal. It wasn’t complicated, but it would be nice if the app did it automatically while running. Additionally, I would love a button for favorite-ing a song, because this involves opening the window again, defeating the point of the app. Secondly, this app does use a disproportinaltey high ammount of power. While streaming music from SoundCloud via Safari, with about ten other windos open, Activity Moniter reports that Safari has a power consumption of ~ 3, while SoundMate averages ~18-20. This is an increase of 600%, and I don’t understand why. A fix, somewhat, is to close the window completley (with the red X at the top left, but the music doesn’t stop) and the power consuption will fall to about 9. This is tolerable. A final comment is about the app’s movement. If one does not click the red X on the app, then it will move to whatever Desktop you are on. So, if you, like me, have traditionally kept your SoundCloud window on the first Desktop, it will now follow you arround. Even after going to the icon on the dock, right clicking, and assigning it to the first Desktop, it still moved. I would like this to be an option. Overall, this is a nice app. However, in it’s current state $5 might be slightly high.

Unable to use

I just bought this, and I’m unable to use it. I get "It looks like you have a Flash blocker browser setting or extension. Please enable Flash to hear this track"

Outstanding Product!

Update: Thanks to the developers. Update: Continues to get better with each release. Update: Nice to see this update.

Doesn’t integrate with Media Keys

I bought this application for the specific reason that it integrates with Media Keys, and hopefully also therefore the clicker on the headset. The simple fact is that it doesn’t. The pause button on my keyboard does precisely nothing when this app is open. It gets worse however I’ve now discovered, it hijacks other keypresses that are used in other applications, and does things with those ‘shortcuts’. These shortcuts aren’t configurable also can’t be disabled as far as I can tell! This makes this application completely worthless to me. As soon as I press a key combination that did something useful in my other application, it restarts the track. Less that worthless, actually decreasing my productivity. Very sad.

Great App

This app is pretty great app, the perfect solution for playing soundcloud without flipping between windown on a browser. With a little searching I was able to find a solution to the play buttons. Search for "play button itunes patch" to find a great little app that will let you use the play buttong on your keyboard without starting itunes everytime.

Really Great

Great app for using soundcloud without a browser. Only thing I hope will be added is the ability to go into users’ likes.

Well built and useful.

I primarily use soundcloud to find new music, so I browse a lot. The shortcuts have been extremely useful (next song, previous song, like song, repost song) because I can have this app running in the background and still call the commands while I’m in the browser, a text editor, etc. Not mention, it’s nice to have a dedicated window for your music player.
